And another...

I think I've found the best way to get comments: ask for advice! Thanks for all your advice. Because of that post, a friend of mine is loaning me her Costco Brother sewing machine for a month while she's out of town, so this will be a great way to try it out to see if I want one. I think for the limited amount of sewing I'll be doing, that might be a really good option. Thanks everyone!

Um, I need s'more advice though. Car seats. I need the next step up car seat that can be both forward and back facing, and possibly also converts to a booster, though that's not absolutely necessary. Ugh, I HATE making these decisions! Just drop one at my doorstep with a bill, would ya?

Also, I'm not spending over $200. I know, I'm a horrible mother. Unless you really really think I should.

And also also, have a great holiday weekend, y'all! We have absolutely nothing planned. So there's that.

Lastly, blog nerd=Blerd. Bam. Thanks, Emily!

We have the Graco Nautilus which is only forward-facing, but does offer a 5-point harness up to 65 lbs and 3-point harness/booster seat conversion for up to 100 lbs. It ranges in price from $150 - $190, depending on where you get it, but we were willing to shell out since it should last us a looong time. We've been using it for 9 months now and are very happy with it - the pads/cover come off fairly easily for cleaning and the cupholder is a plus. Even the low-end version is good.
(I'm a lurker - found your blog through a friend's blog.)

I have a Costco Brother and I love it. Once (I am not very experienced), I had a little sewing mishap and took it in to a sewing shop. I was bemoaning my machine to the employee there and she was like "Your machine is actually a VERY good sewing machine. You're the one that screwed up."

And then she showed me what was wrong. Something that was so easy to fix it took two seconds.

So anyway, I recommend the Costco Brother.

Apparently Britax is the way to go on seats but they tend to be over 200 bucks. I have a Triumph Evenflo Advance LX. It's the only one we've had since our Baby was born in Oct. Still looking good. Love it! Got high ratings too.

We went with the Britax Marathon, but we're kind of product snobs (as you know). And though it costs over $200, it really is a quality seat. Ranges from 5lbs to 65lbs. Can be rear or forward facing. Seriously, it could work for an infant up to a kindergartner or so. It's a little on the large side, but you can't beat the quality and flexibility.

OH YES. We JUST went through this, and I bought not one, but TWO carseats. First be bought a Recaro, which is really nice, but totally unnecessary. It is very big and very safe, but also a little expensive. I was so sick of trying to my kid into our car while it was in there that I actually just bought another carseat, the Britax Roundabout. It's go the great Britax quality, the only difference is the weight limits. It's not going to fit a kid through college, but it will see them through to forward facing and then some. It has a small footprint and is super comfy. Here is why I LOVE it. First: It was either under $200 or very close to it, I can't remember. You can get the discontinued fabrics for cheap sometimes. Second, it is nice and wide. It doesn't hedge Camper in, and he can easily see out windows and reach toys we set up on top of a bag next to his seat, etc. (This was not possible in the Recaro.) Three, it is WAY EASY to install, and fits in our Subuaru perfectly. It's also been in my Mom's SUV and my Dad's truck. It works everywhere and I don't even hesitate to pull it out and put it somewhere else. Four, Camper has no problem eating/sleeping in it, and that was a problem in the Recaro as it sat too upright for him to be very comfy.

It's also really really safe, and a good buy all around. I looked at the Marathon and other Britax seats, but I really think sometimes we think our kids are going to get huger than they are. I think the Roundabout is just perfect! You can't beat it for the price, the comfort, the quality and the fact that it does exactly what we need it to do.

Just my opinion :)

PS, I meant First WE not First be bought. Not trying to be Shakespearean over here. Also, I forgot to say that we keep the Recaro as a "grandparent" carseat, but if we go on any long drive I also switch it out for the Britax. That is how much I heart it.

We've used the Evenflo Triumph for both of our boys and have really enjoyed it.

The problem with advice, is you'll get a lot! Then how do you decide? Good luck!

The Britax Roundabout is hands down our favorite. In fact we have two. . . with our kids being so close and all. It's true that they don't have the same weight limit as the Marathon, but they are much smaller and easier to fit into a car with other car seats (if additional future children are a consideration or if you ever carpool with someone else who uses carseats). Ours have held up beautifully. Aside from that, when we bought them at least, they had the highest safety rating on consumer reports. That was an instant sell for me.
