What's up this week.

Well, we made it home in one piece last week. The journey, as usual, was a bit bumpy. But we survived it fine.

We had a wonderful time with the family, with minimal drama. That's always a bonus, no?

For the moment, we are back in weather of 50s...sometimes 60s...with some hope that Spring is really coming sometime. (Maybe.)

And next week J and I will be off again, on what has become our annual trip to San Jose, CA. Exciting, and sure to be relaxing and fun; sadly Mike will not be joining us this time. But we will be meeting up with him for his sister's wedding in a few weeks in AZ.

So basically, the month is shaping up to look pretty sunny.

Last night, we attempted to find Mike a suit for the wedding...with J in tow. It was kind of a disaster. This is precisely the sort of occasion on which I would have phoned either of my recently departed friends to see if I could drop him for a few hours so we could do this alone. Most folks who now live nearby are either pretty overloaded or have no kids, so I feel a bit guilty not being able to return the favor. I'll need to come up with some sort of plan for times like this, because a night of tantrums and beligerence ended up with no suit to show for it.

And we only have 2 weeks to find one. And get it tailored. (Suggestions?)

In the meantime, I was panicking that I had to find not just a color-specific dress for this wedding, but a MATERNITY color-specific dress (soft orange or apple green, since you asked). Then my mother graciously offered to make me one while I was at home. She whipped it out in about a day and a half and I am very happy with it. Bless that mom of mine. (I vow to post pics of the wedding after the fact).

In other news, this baby is kicking the crap out of my insides. For some reason, I don't recall this occurring so early with such ferocity last time. It's not painful per se, just startling. I'm just now remembering how I posted about the midwife I thought I was going to use, but never posted about the midwife I AM using, who is a very different person.

(I vow to do that. Soon. She is certainly worth writing about).

Also, Mike tiled our backsplash and painted a wall while we were gone. 6 years after moving in, we might finally hope to have our condo "finished" at some point. Perhaps I should leave more often?

Good luck on finding a suit. B needs a new one desperately right now, but we're terrible suit shoppers, too. So, no help to offer here, but lots of sympathy.

As for the womb kicker... I'd say it's just the kid's personality. My first kicked like crrraaazzy, and my second hardly EVER moved at all. When they were babies, it was obvious which was the kicker and which was not. So... get ready for a lively babe! :)

Try JoS. A. Bank. http://bit.ly/akfuYl They have pretty good quality and some decent deals. They can taylor also. S and I went shopping for me a couple of months ago, and we had a similar experience to yours, except the role of impatient baby was played by me. Suit shopping is so frustrating because apparently tall equals big, and skinny equals short. Not fun.
