As in, a decade

A number of factors led us to make the decision to go on our upcoming trip.

1. We've been talking about doing "something" for a long time.
2. It was cheap.
3. We got the flights practically free.
4. The only other big trip we've been on (2006), I had bad hair and Mike was about 40 lbs. heavier.
(We need better pictures)
and
4. We are celebrating a rather significant wedding anniversary this year.

I'm talking the big 1-0. And we just can't let that pass without celebrating in some significant way.

Mike and I rarely do things. Like without kids. We have gone on a handful of dates since J was born, one since G was born (if you can count a wedding as a "date." Which I can). We've left J overnight without either of us TWO times. Two nights in 3.5 years. And only one of those nights were we actually together, and that was about 6 months ago.

What I'm saying is, we need a kid break. And though it will absolutely break my heart to do so (I've already cried about this approximately eleventy-four times), we are leaving the kids for 5 days.

Both of them. Even my almost 6-month old baby.

For many people, this is no big deal, and others are reading this going I COULD NEVER! But I feel like after 2 kids it's important for us to be us again, just for a little while.

We are going with 2 other couples. Our first cruise! I hear you either love it or you hate it so let's hope for "love."

Bahamas. Florida. Excited!

(And yes, a little bit heartsick.)

Congrats! I've loved the cruises we've been on and I love kid free vacations. Missing them once in a while is good for you and them and you'll love them (and your husband) more for it. Have fun!

I cry my face off everytime I go somewhere ( I say that like we've been a lot of places...whatever!) I feel your pain. And I'll cry some tears for you so you don't have to. Just go have a BLAST!!!!

So....my waxer girl has been to at least one of the places we're going to, and started off on a whole list of things to do and not do. At my next appt, before our trip, I'm bringing a paper and pencil.

It's going to be amazing. And yes, we will talk about our kids. A lot.

I can't freakin' wait.

And yeah for 10!!!

Oh how fun!!! I hope you love it, and I hope it's just what you need ... even though it IS hard to leave your babies. Ten years??? Seriously?! Fastest decade of my life, for sure. And, Mike is really 40 lbs lighter?! wow. awesome. Whoever is watching your kids for you is a saint, just saying. Enjoy!!

Good for you! Not that I'm any kind of expert on such things, but I think it's great to have a little couples-only time away from the kiddos. Have fun, wear sunscreen, brush up on your karaoke skills, and eat eat eat!
